CLEARLAKE — The City of Clearlake experienced 41.6 percent voter turnout with 2010 Election results seating Jeri Spittler and Joey Luiz on the Clearlake City Council. The new council members will be sworn into their elected positions on Dec. 9.

Nine competed for the two open council seats. According to Lake County Registrar of Voters” preliminary results Spittler obtained 19.9 percent of the vote with 769 ballots cast in her favor. Luiz followed with 16.6 percent and 642 votes.

“I”m so grateful to the citizens of Clearlake for having so much faith in me,” Spittler said. “Now it”s time for the real work of restoring our city to begin. I”m looking forward to working with Joey Luiz and the other city councilmembers to make Clearlake the best place it can possibly be.”

Luiz said it was an exciting race and that he is very pleased with the results. “I”m humbled by the confidence Clearlake voters have shown in me. It is encouraging to see that the issues that I stood by throughout my campaign are important to the citizens of our city,” he said. “I look forward to returning the voice of the people back to City Hall.”

Rounding out the Clearlake City Council race were Bill Perkins, 14.1 percent; Jim Scholz, 13.6 percent; Frank Taylor, 11.8 percent; Barbara Grier, 10.4 percent; Raymond Brady, 6.2 percent; Estella Creel, 5.2 percent; and Michael Walton, 2.2 percent.

Incumbent Melissa Swanson, who ran unopposed, acquired 100 percent of the vote re-electing her to the position of Clearlake City Clerk.

No filings were made for the open Clearlake City Treasurer position. Per Clearlake Municipal Code, City Administrator Dale Neiman will remain responsible for the duties of the position.
