Al Duncan is often proven wrong by readers with letters to the editor. He makes some statements in the Oct. 22 edition about the new laws in the election. He starts with Proposition 19, the legalization of marijuana. He says it will assist the illegal market. This is funny, because drug dealers as well as cannabis shop owners are worried that once legalized, the price will drop dramatically. I think this would be a deterrent for some, and have them go into a more lucrative occupation.
He also insinuates that everyone will buy it off the street instead of at a shop because no taxes are involved. Sure this will happen, but not with everyone. Plenty of people enjoy the convenience of a store, so there is still tax revenue to be collected here.
As for his comment of the federal government being allowed to arrest anyone selling marijuana, I don”t even know the reason he brought that to light. They rarely bother with shops or dealers unless a ridiculously substantial amount is involved. As for the other eight laws he talked about, I will leave that for another reader to chew him up and spit him out.
