CLEARLAKE OAKS — No injuries were sustained in an afternoon crash involving an empty horse trailer Sunday in Clearlake Oaks. Highway 20 was closed briefly during the incident.

According to California Highway Patrol, at approximately 3:02 p.m. Sunday, Mary Segundo, 49, of Clearlake, traveling eastbound on Highway 20 east of Hillside Lane in Clearlake Oaks. She was driving a 1999 Volkswagen Beetle.

David Brandt, 52, of Enterprise, OR. was traveling westbound on Highway 20 in a Chevy 2500 pick-up pulling an empty horse trailer.

According to Officer Domby, Segundo lost control of the Beetle and it crossed into the westbound lane where it collided with the side of Brandt”s pick-up. Impact forced the pick-up and horse trailer into a culvert while Segundo”s vehicle rotated and came to rest south of the roadway very near to the lake, Domby said.

Segundo and her two juvenile passengers were transported for medical attention as precaution only, Domby said. Brandt and his passenger were not injured.
