LUCERNE — A Lucerne woman who flipped over the pickup truck she was driving Wednesday evening was arrested and booked on four charges, including possession of a controlled substance and attempting to bring drugs into a jail.
Alva Myra Applequist, 51, was driving a 2004 Toyota Tacoma truck westbound on Highway 20 west of Foothill Drive in Lucerne when she turned to the right and struck a dirt embankment, according to Steve Tanguay, of the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The vehicle rolled onto its back and blocked the westbound lane on Highway 20.
CHP officers arrested Applequist at the crash scene for suspicion of driving under the influence, Tanguay said.
Applequist was uninjured in the incident but was taken to Sutter Lakeside Hospital for a blood test before being booked into the Lake County Jail, Tanguay said.
Applequist had a plastic baggie containing drugs in her possession when searched at the jail Thursday morning, Tanguay said.
