This week, an official government panel actually said what we”ve known all along: that billions spent on warplanes and missiles is billions not spent on schools, healthcare and food for our children and communities. President Dwight Eisenhower said it. Now, President Obama”s own Deficit Commission admitted it in their report that was leaked to the press on Wednesday.
Though I cannot agree with most of what the commission laid out ? more tax cuts for the wealthy, severe cuts to Social Security and Medicare, etc., but I can wholeheartedly agree on their suggestion to spend $100 billion less on building and supporting an overgrown Pentagon war machine.
Better yet, how about we stop killing our fellow human beings?
Of all of the religions that have an equivalent belief of “Thou shalt not kill” it”s disappointing that these religious organizations are not leading a worldwide revolution on this.
This kind of hypocritical disconnect may just be tied to lower church /religious organization attendance.
