LAKEPORT — The Board of Directors of the Lake County Redevelopment Agency Tuesday voted to approve a notice of completion for the roofing project at the Lucerne Hotel and remove the emergency status that had been declared on the hotel.
County administrator and executive director of the Redevelopment Agency Kelly Cox gave an update on the roofing project during Tuesday”s regular meeting of the Lake County Board of Supervisors.
The BOS also holds the position of the Redevelopment Agency”s board of directors.
Cox told the board that he had “good news to report,” explaining that the roofing project had been completed.
The BOS declared on Oct. 12 that emergency action be taken on the Lucerne Hotel to fix its unsafe roof.
Lucerne Roofing and Supply completed the installation of the new roof as of Nov. 15, Cox said.
Cox commended the quality of Lucerne Roofing”s work and reported that the contractor donated some of the company”s equipment and employees to pressure wash the hotel”s walls free of charge.
Cox told the board that the timing of the emergency action and the completion of the roof work were “perfect” because the contractor completed the work between rainstorms.
The roofing project “fulfilled the intent of the board,” Cox said because a local company completed the project quickly and effectively.
Scaffolding will remain at the hotel while the agency”s staff obtains informal bids for work to replace missing gutters, Cox said.
The board voted 5-0 to remove the emergency status and authorize a notice of completion.
