CLEARLAKE — A two-vehicle collision closed part of the roadway for about an hour Tuesday evening at Highway 53 and 18th Avenue in Clearlake. Drugs and/or alcohol are not considered to be factors in the collision.

According to Clearlake Police Lt. Craig Clausen, at about 6 p.m. Tuesday Edward Wilkerson, 51, of Clearlake Oaks, was in the northbound lane of Highway 53 waiting for the stoplight change at 18th Avenue. Juan Escobarcastro, 35, of Clearlake, was also traveling northbound on Highway 53 at an unknown rate of speed approaching Wilkerson”s Ford F150 pick-up from behind.

Escobarcastro, who was driving a Toyota Tercel, allegedly rear-ended Wilkerson”s pick-up causing major damage to both vehicles.

Wilkerson and his 47-year-old female passenger from Clearlake Oaks, expressed complaints of pain. No other injuries were reported in the collision.
