I doubt if it is intentional, but nevertheless, Obama is destroying the Democratic Party. Somehow the state party in California has survived him.
Obama”s health reform went from universal coverage, to public option, to a few improvements that amounted to insurance reform, and not health reform.
And, most folks don”t know what they got and when they will get it and it may be repealed anyway. If he had held out two things could have happened: We would all be covered by Medicare, everyone would have had the experience of good health care, people would have loved him and worked for him, or, he would have ended with no reform, but his supporters would have come out to vote and most voters would have respected him for fighting the good fight. If we had gotten universal health care, like Social Security, it would never be repealed.
Obama gave the impression that he was going to end the wars by running on a platform of “change.” Two years, billions of dollars, and thousands more lives later, we have the same two wars. He could not stand up to the military-industrial complex and its empire of over 700 military bases in 130 countries. Obama has blood on his hands and so do Democrats that continue to support him.
Thirdly, Obama rescued the “banksters” and failed to pass effective regulation to prevent them from damaging the economy again. The banksters are back with their bonuses while many of us are floundering with unemployment and foreclosures.
The real tragedy is that we should be beyond these problems and dealing with the environment and the future of the planet. For example, tests of newborns show that they have a “burden” of 200 foreign chemicals, some of them toxic, which may explain our high rate of autism.
I hope the Democrats dump Obama in two years and run a candidate who will actually create change, instead of saying “change” and delivering “same old, same old.”
