NOVATO — Clear Lake High School flexed its wrestling muscle on Saturday by winning the 37th annual Green & Gold Tournament at San Marin High School in Novato.

The Cardinals finished just ahead of Rancho Cotate High School for first place. Windsor, Armijo and Los Altos rounded out the top five in the 30-team tournament.

“The hard work everyone on the team is putting in at practices is starting to show dividends on the mat,” Clear Lake High School first-year coach Ronnie Campos said. “I couldn”t be prouder of the performances and finishes of the kids.”

Jacob Humble won the 130-pound division to highlight the Cardinals” great day on the mats. Second-place medals went to Ryan Blyleven at 119 and Mike Reynolds at 215, while Robby Hammers took third at 152. Bringing home fourth-place medals were Mike DeAngelo at 140 pounds and Matt Lockwood at 189 pounds, and Roberto Morfin won a fifth-place medal in the heavyweight division.

Clear Lake returns to action Dec. 21-22 at the 27th annual Lou Bronzan Invitational at Liberty High School in Brentwood.
