LAKEPORT — A white Honda Civic driven by an 18-year-old Nice resident struck a tree on Highway 175 west of Mathews Road around 6:25 p.m. on Dec. 21, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The driver, Christian Cisneros, and a 19-year-old passenger were traveling eastbound on Highway 175 under wet and rainy conditions before the incident occurred, according to Officer Steve Tanguay of the CHP.
The vehicle drifted from the roadway and onto the dirt and gravel portions of the right shoulder, Tanguay said, and the driver turned the steering wheel to the left before losing control of the car.
The right side of the Civic then “struck a large oak tree on the north side of the road,” Tanguay said.
Cisneros was uninjured in the incident, and the passenger, Korbin Renarud, sustained injuries and was transported by ambulance to Sutter Lakeside Hospital, Tanguay said.
