LAKEPORT — Sutter Lakeside Hospital”s Family Birth Center welcomed its first baby of the new year Monday morning.
Tatiana Marie Ponce was born at 6:54 a.m. Jan. 3, weighing 7 pounds, 8 ounces and measuring 21 inches.
“She”s adorable and we”re thankful for her,” Eliza Mota, Tatiana”s mother said. “It was a rough nine months but worth it.”
Tatiana”s father, Carlos Ponce, grandmother, aunt and two sisters, Liliana and Gabriela, celebrated her arrival at the hospital.
Mota said her mother had always liked the name Tatiana, which is how the family decided on the baby”s first name. Tatiana shares a middle name with Mota”s older sister, whose birthday is also Jan. 3.
The Family Birth Center celebrated Tatiana”s arrival as the first baby of 2011 by giving the family a gift basket that included a car seat, goodies, toys and supplies.
It was not uncommon that the first new-year baby arrived days after Jan. 1, as the center averages one birth per day and births can sometimes be spread out or clustered, according to the Family Birth Center.
