CLEARLAKE OAKS — A woman was killed Thursday in a single-vehicle crash in Clearlake Oaks. The victim was identified by California Highway Patrol (CHP) as Rebecca Manka, 45, of Clearlake Oaks.
According to CHP Officer Steve Tanguay, at about 11:30 a.m. Thursday Manka was traveling northbound on Lakeview Drive approaching Widgeon Way in Clearlake Oaks. Tanguay said as Manka traveled up hill the roadway curved to the left and for unknown reasons Manka allowed the 1995 Saturn she was driving to drift off the right side of the roadway.
“The vehicle broke through a wire-mesh fence and dropped down a steep embankment over 10 feet high,” Tanguay said. “The vehicle overturned and landed on its roof. Manka sustained fatal injuries as a result of this collision.”
Tanguay said alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to factors in the incident, which remains under investigation by Officer N. Powell.
