LOWER LAKE — Richard Tucker and Chad Mattos made late baskets to preserve Lower Lake”s 50-42 victory over St. Vincent in a North Central League I interlock junior varsity boys” basketball game Tuesday in Lower Lake.

St. Vincent rallied to within three points of the Trojans with less than a minute to play before Tucker, who finished with 12 points, and Mattos, who added nine, put the game away.

Jesse Meldrum led the Trojans (5-6) with 17 points. Meldrum flip-flopped starting guard positions with Mattos before the game, Mattos moving to the point and Meldrum to shooting guard.

“For putting it in yesterday (Monday), we didn”t look bad,” Lower Lake coach David Graham said.

In other JV boys” action Tuesday:

Fort Bragg 48, Clear Lake 29

At Fort Bragg, unable to get their offense going, the Clear Lake Cardinals fell to the Timberwolves.

“We couldn”t run the offense,” Clear Lake coach Jeremy Hopkins said.

Fort Bragg pulled away in the second half after taking a 26-15 lead into halftime.

Kenny Henninger led the Cardinals (4-8) with eight points while Gabe Partida and Luke Punzalan added six apiece.

Clear Lake hosts Kelseyville on Friday as part of a four-game homecoming set.

Middletown 59, Upper Lake 30

At Upper Lake, in a battle between the two teams who finished 1-2 at last month”s Record-Bee Hoop Classic in Lakeport, the Middletown Mustangs prevailed again, this time in convincing fashion against the Upper Lake Cougars.

Blaine Amos paced Middletown with a team-high 14 points and 13 rebounds, Nate Snodgrass added 12 points and Ben Pike had 10.

The Mustangs put the game away with a 19-4 third quarter.

JV girls

Lower Lake 50, St. Vincent 38

At Petaluma, Danni Welch led a balanced Lower Lake attack with 13 points and Camry Richardson added 12 more as the Trojans improved to 13-2 with a victory over the St. Vincent Mustangs in NCL I interlock play.

Lower Lake took a 25-20 lead into halftime.

Middletown 29, Upper Lake 20

At Middletown, Jenny Hoefer scored 16 points and the Middletown Mustangs improved to 10-3 on the season with a victory over the Upper Lake Cougars.

Cloverdale 27, Kelseyville 24

At Cloverdale, Bonnie McCallister scored 10 points and Jackie Baqleh added seven as the Kelseyville Knights lost a close one to the Cloverdale Eagles.

Jeannie Johnson led the Knights with nine rebounds.

Clear Lake 55, Fort Bragg 27

At Lakeport, Mar-sha”na Sugimoto led the way with 16 points and Miranda Strate added 12 as the Clear Lake Cardinals worked over the Fort Bragg Timberwolves.

Clear Lake led 25-9 at halftime.

“Marsh played real well, lots of rebounds and steals,” Clear Lake coach Joey Wind said. “(Miranda) did an awesome job on the boards.”

Anna Westin added eight points as Clear Lake improved to 6-3 on the season.
