CLEARLAKE — A Clearlake man was arrested early Friday morning on several felony and misdemeanor charges after allegedly attempting to run from police.

Kevin Ray Stone, 28, was arrested at approximately 12:14 a.m. on four felony charges including convicted person in possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm, carrying a concealed weapon and prohibited person in possessing ammunition and three misdemeanor charges including obstructing an officer and two counts of violation of a court order.

According to Field Training Officer (FTO) M. Carpenter, at approximately 12:12 a.m. Sgt. R. Joseph and Officer A. Jones were performing a patrol check of the Clearlake Apartments, located on the 7100 block of Old Highway 53 in Clearlake. Carpenter said while the officers were checking the area they observed a male, later identified as Stone, acting suspiciously.

As the officers approached Stone he allegedly began to walk away. Carpenter said Stone disobeyed officers” orders to stop and began to run from them. A foot pursuit ensued, Carpenter said, and Stone was caught by Joseph at the playground located in the apartment complex.

A loaded handgun was allegedly discovered near the proximity where Stone was caught. Carpenter said it is believed Stone tossed the firearm while attempting to run from the officers.

Carpenter said Stone is currently on probation and prohibited from owning a firearm. He was booked into Lake County Jail.
