CLEARLAKE — About a minute and a half response time by Clearlake Police Department resulted in the capture of vandals Thursday.

Three juveniles were taken into custody, two of whom were charged with misdemeanor vandalism.

“It was fortunate that we had officers patrolling in the area at the time this vandalism was occurring,” Sgt. T. Hobbs said. “Officers were able to converge on the location and locate the suspects as they fled the scene.”

Police responded to the area of Burn Valley School at about 4:46 p.m. following a call from a citizen who reported juveniles in the act of defacing school property.

Sgt. M. Snyder said that upon officers” arrival, three male juveniles ran from the scene via Walnut Avenue.

Snyder said that officers pursued the suspects to the area of Locust Street and Walnut Avenue. Ultimately, the juveniles were located hiding behind several garbage cans near the intersection. The juveniles were identified and placed under arrest for misdemeanor vandalism.

Snyder said during the investigation it was determined that one of the three juveniles was not involved in the act of vandalism and was released without charges.

The other two juveniles where booked into Lake County Juvenile Hall.

Because of the age of the juveniles, Snyder said their identities are not being released.
