I was distressed when I found that Representative Woolsey voted against the mandate to reduce the House expenses by 5 percent. Actually, I wish the bill had been 10 percent and know we could live with it.
My real beef is that Woolsey”s comments/action seems to reflect California”s attitude concerning many things politic! The presumption that all is well, being done well and efficiently and we shouldn”t “meddle.” Successful businesses constantly improvise and improve to maintain savings/profit and to avoid having to raise the price of their products. Our government, on the other hand, seems to presume it is perfect and to demand higher prices/fees, tuitions, taxes ? for the same old services.
I”d like to see a detailed organization chart for all our government organizations ? law enforcement, fire, corrections, education, and so forth, so that we the people could have some visibility. I”ll bet 10 percent of expenses could be eliminated in the first year. Hey, anyone know how many appointive positions, boards of directors and commissions we pay for without knowing what they, let alone if they are worthwhile?
