I agree with Deb Baumann in the GMO issue that the public has a right to choose. I also will add that the public has the right to know what is going on with their food supply.
Most people are in the dark about what is happening and just believe this technology is just a harmless way to improve and better the world.
This isn”t just some health fanatic”s warning about GMOs but a concerned mom who is worried about the world”s future.
The Institute for Responsible Technology has a great website raising awareness of the real issues at stake. GMO corn was promised to be contained but ancient strains of corn have become infected with GMO DNA.
What this means to me is that in the future we might not have the right to choose. Is this an environmental issue?
You bet it is. Are GMOs unhealthy? The evidence says yes. Do I want to serve this to my family?
No I don”t. Serving mashed potatoes a modified version of a potato but everyone needs to know that this is not an example of genetic modification.
Now if this potato has a frog gene in it then yes it is. We people have been modifying food on the ancient tundra to make fermented yogurt, in ancient Egypt to make yeast bread, even in the recent past to make sourdough bread but this in no way compares to some scientist injecting rabbit DNA into a strawberry.
Never in the history of mankind have people tampered with food in such an extreme way and I”m afraid that the damage from this technology of only 15 years will be irreparable.
I hope that people wake up and educate themselves to the dangers of GMOs. Food is essential to our existence and it is something that should be good and simple. The 6.5 billion years of naturalness can”t be wrong. 200 years of technology isn”t very much time and GMOs have been around a whopping 15 years. Not long track record compared to 6.5 billion years. What gives humans the right to do this, just because they can? I”m sure no one thinks about if this is what the insects or animals want.
Honeybees are struggling to survive. Could it be all the contact with GMOs are affecting their delicate system?
Did the fish give permission to put their DNA in a tomato? I think not. Just food for thought. That pun was intended. I like my organic blue corn tortilla chips and don”t want GMO DNA to contaminate this corn. Will we need to grow food in hot houses to avoid contamination issues? Why should farmers be forced to do this? Maybe GMO food should be regulated to indoor growing that is a better solution. Natural food existed before this artificial mutant food. Let”s protect it.
