LAKEPORT — The Lakeport Police Department is seeking the public”s help to identify a suspicious person as a result of a recent incident where a girl was followed, while walking to her home from school, in the 2200 block of Green Street, according to Lakeport Police Sgt. Jason Ferguson.
The person is described as a man in his 30s with a medium complexion, average height and weight, with short brown hair.
He was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt, dark-colored jeans and Birkenstock-type sandals.
Citizens are encouraged to remind children to be aware of their surroundings when walking to and from school and take precautionary measures such as walking with a friend whenever possible, stay in well lit areas and try not to use shortcuts through trails and fields.
The Lakeport Police Department will be working with school officials as well as the school resource officer to provide awareness and safety training to the students.
