LAKEPORT — The Lake County District Attorney”s Office Friday added a third felony charge in the case against one defendant charged with the Maddox double-murder.
Deputy district attorney Art Grothe told Judge Andrew Blum that a charge of being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm would be added to the case against 30-year-old Robby Alan Beasley.
Beasley, along with co-defendant Elijah Bae McKay, 28, has been charged with two counts of murder in connection with the deaths of Maine residents Frank Maddox, 32, and Yvonne Maddox, 40.
The partially decomposed bodies of the married Maine couple were discovered in March at the bottom of an embankment off of Morgan Valley Road in Lower Lake, according to the Lake County Sheriff”s Office (LCSO).
Further investigation determined that the couple sustained gunshot wounds in addition to other injuries, according to the LCSO.
Beasley and McKay were charged with two counts of murder in December, following a nine-month investigation.
Beasley, who pleaded not guilty to the murder charges on Jan. 4, entered a plea of not guilty to the firearm charge. A preliminary hearing in Beasley”s case is scheduled for Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Department 2. Grothe estimated the hearing would span four court days.
McKay, who did not enter a plea on Jan. 4, is next scheduled to appear in court on April 5.
