LAKE COUNTY — The Lake County Board of Supervisors (BOS) authorized the abatement of two properties Tuesday deemed as public nuisances by the Community Development Code Compliance Department. One property is located in Clearlake Park and the other is in Lakeport.
The BOS authorized the abatement of property located at 10825 Lakeshore Drive in Clearlake held in the Harsha Trust. The property has been the subject of Code Compliance attention since October 2010 for complaints of open and outdoor storage consisting of junk, debris, one or more nuisance vehicles and other violations.
Doug Harsha said the property is held in his trust and that of his three brothers. He said he and his family were living at the residence in September 2010 when a tree fell on the property displacing his family. He said currently he and his family are living in a hotel.
Harsha requested time extension to find a place for his family to live.
“This absolutely needs to be done,” District 2 Supervisor Jeff Smith said. “It”s right on Lakeshore Drive and everybody that drives by has to see this place. I think the 30 days is time enough to do it.”
The BOS also authorized the abatement of property located at 65 Rocky Point Road in Lakeport. The property is owned by Eugene Bedros and has been the subject of Code Compliance attention since September 2010 for complaints of excessive open and outdoor storage consisting of piles of scrap wood, plastic waste, road signs and other miscellaneous debris including household waste.
Bedros, who was represented Tuesday by Della Wells, was given 30 days to abate the property with the exception of household garbage, which is to be abated within seven days.
If either property is not abated in the time allotted, abatement will be performed by the county and lien for abatement costs will be placed against the said property.
