LAKE COUNTY — The Lake County Chamber of Commerce is extending the deadline for Stars of Lake County nominations to Jan. 28 at the close of the business day.

All postmarked nominations bearing that date will be honored. For those writing nominations, please keep in mind that details about why your nominee deserves to be awarded a Star of Lake County award are very important. The Stars selection committee depends on and makes its final decisions on the details provided on each nominee. The nomination form is available on line at www.lakecochamber.com.

The 14th annual Stars of Lake County community awards will be held on March 5 at Robinson Rancheria Resort & Casino.

Stars of Lake County nominees received as of Monday are as follows: Marla Ruzicka Humanitarian of the Year ? Nominees: Carolyn Wing Greenlee of Kelseyville and Ben Finneston of Clearlake.

Senior of the Year ? Nominees: Edward McDonald of Lakeport and Ginger Frank of Lucerne.

Volunteer of the Year ? Nominee: Gerald Morehouse of Lucerne.

Student of the Year: Female ? Nominees: none.

Student of the Year: Male ? Nominees: none.

Youth Advocate of the Year-Volunteer ? Nominees: none

Youth Advocate of the Year-Professional ? Nominees: Michelle Meese of Kelseyville

Agriculture Award ? Nominees: Scully Packing Company of Finley and Annette Hopkins, AgVenture Program of Lake County.

Organization of the Year-Nonprofit (Nonprofit has paid staff) ? Nominees: Lakeport Speedway of Lakeport.

Organization of the Year-Volunteer (All volunteer staff) ? Nominees: none.

Environmental Award ? Nominee: Terry Knight of Lakeport

New Business of the Year ? Nominees: Riviera Fitness of Kelseyville, Color Splash Photos of Lakeport and Common Grounds Coffee House in Kelseyville. Small Business of the Year ? Nominees: Lannette R. Huffman, DDS of Lakeport, Lake County Jazzercise of Middletown, Airport Auto Brokers of Lakeport and Lucerne Pharmacy & Alpine Caf? in Lucerne.

Large Business of the Year ? Nominees: none

Best Idea of the Year ? Nominees: Lake County Quilt Trail of Lake County and AgVenture of Lake County.

Local Hero of the Year ? Nominees: Aaron Wright & Rich Swaney, Cal-Trans Workers of Clearlake Oaks

Woman of the Year ? Nominee: Stephanie Lilly of Kelseyville
