MIDDLETOWN — Middletown High School senior middle linebacker Jake Davis has been named to the 32nd annual Cal-Hi Sports All-State Small Schools Football Team.
A first-team selection, Davis, a 6-foot-2, 220-pound senior, anchored a Middle-town defense that logged eight shutouts in 2010. The Mustangs finished 11-2 and lost to Salesian 28-21 in overtime in the North Coast Section Division IV championship game.
Named to the first-team offense was Salesian junior lineman Freddie Tagaloa.
Middletown”s Davis was one of two North Central League I North athletes honored on the All-State squad. Also selected was Fort Bragg senior defensive back Cody Ryden, who was named to the second-team defense.
The Small Schools Player of the Year was Tyrone Sauls, a senior linebacker from Christian High School of El Cajon.
