LAKEPORT — Around 140 Lake County residents answered jury summons and appeared on two separate jury panels Wednesday during the second day of jury selection in the Thomas Loyd Dudney trial.
The 59-year-old Fulton man is charged with 11 felonies, including attempted murder, first-degree battery and torture, for his alleged role in an Oct. 20, 2009 incident in which Lakeport resident Ronald Greiner was shot, tortured and hogtied.
Judge Arthur H. Mann presided. Attorney Doug Rhoades represented Dudney and Deputy District Attorney Art Grothe represented the Lake County District Attorney”s Office.
Around 70 people were on the morning panel and just fewer than 70 were on the afternoon panel, according the Jury Commissioner Office.
A majority of people on both panels was excused as potential jurors because the predicted two-month trial would have caused them extreme hardships if they were chosen to serve.
Nearly 60 people between the two panels filled out a jury questionnaire Wednesday. These potential jurors, along with the nearly 60 people who completed questionnaires the previous day, will return to the Lake County Courthouse Tuesday morning, at which time the jury selection process will continue.
