LAKEPORT — Attorneys completed jury selection for the Thomas Loyd Dudney trial early Tuesday afternoon and presentation of evidence will begin on Feb. 8.

Dudney, 59, of Fulton, is charged with 11 felonies, including attempted murder, battery causing serious bodily injury and robbery, for his alleged role in an Oct. 20, 2009 incident in which Lakeport resident Ronald Greiner was shot, tortured and hogtied.

Judge Arthur H. Mann presided. Deputy District Attorney Art Grothe represented the Lake County Sheriff”s Office and attorney Doug Rhoades represented Dudney.

Around 100 Lake County residents filled the Department 2 courtroom Tuesday morning, as the attorneys began the third day of jury selection. More than 100 people filled out jury questionnaires the previous week and were asked to return to the Lake County Courthouse Tuesday.

The packed courtroom of potential jurors was slowly reduced down to 12 jurors and two alternate jurors by early afternoon. Potential jurors were excused by the court at the request of the attorneys for various reasons, primarily potential biases.

The final 14 jurors and alternates will return to Department 2 on Feb. 8, at which time the attorneys will begin presenting evidence. Dudney is next scheduled to appear in court Thursday at 9 a.m. for pre-trial hearings, according to Rhoades.
