LAKE COUNTY — The male driver of a black Mitsubishi SUV was traveling westbound on the Nice-Lucerne Cutoff just past Rodman Slough on Friday afternoon when he drifted off of the road to the right, overcorrected and veered into the eastbound lane, according to Officer Brendan Bach of the California Highway Patrol. The Mitsubishi collided head-on with a brown Pontiac Sunfire and then came to rest near the bottom of an embankment. The 91-year-old woman driving the Pontiac was transported to the hospital for precautionary reasons, Bach said. The SUV driver, who was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence, was deemed to be “the person at fault,” Bach said.
