We just received a notice from PG&E stating that SmartMeters are going to be installed in our neighborhood. Along with the letter is a booklet describing how great it is going to be and how we can learn to save money on our electricity bill.

What the booklet does not tell the customer is that there are a variety of rates for different times of the day and night.

What this means to me is during summer months when we need to run our air conditioner, it will be at their highest rate period.

I do not know about you but when it reaches 80 degrees in the house I need to use the air conditioner. One of the family members suffers with migraines that are triggered by excessive heat, hence the need to keep the house cool all day. I was under the impression that the Board of Supervises were going to send a letter to PG&E asking for a moratorium against installing these meters in Lake County until their safety to humans, animals and accuracy could be proven.

I left a message with Jeff Smith regarding the Board of Supervisors” letter to PG&E and asked if he or the other board members would place a small article in the Record-Bee stating their position. As of this writing I have not seen any response.

As a customer of PG&E I feel we should be able to opt-out of this program until questions about the meter”s accuracy and electrical magnetic frequency (a form of radiation) can be resolved.
