Don”t expect miracles. Don”t expect our president to walk on water, turn water to wine or heal people just by a mere touch.

You can expect him to heal people with his mere signature after his intense, tough-won battle to put Obamacare into law. Now, if you are ill, insurance companies cannot deny you service. Republicans don”t care about that because they are well-off and insured. It is a slap in the face to all of those who died because they could not get insurance and a chip into the souls of those who will die should Obamacare be eliminated.

Obama is not perfect. Nobody is. There are a couple of things even I am not thrilled with. But Obama is a good president. He is a man of emotion, compassion, determination, morals and he has shown this time and time again. He brought troops out of Iraq and got new start ratified, which will reduce both Russian and American nuclear warheads by a third. Don”t forget that when the BP oil spill caused America”s biggest eco-disaster, Obama saved the day by holding BP responsible and threatened criminal charges unless it paid $20 billion to clean up and help people along the coast whose businesses were lost.

Obama has a set plan and date to end the war. This is all more than I can say for the eight years Bush was in office. What did Bush do that was constructive? As I recall, he started two wars, plunged our economy into turmoil and the worst recession in decades, caused controversy over water boarding and did not respond to Hurricane Katrina in a timely manner.

Let”s not try to demand perfection but be thankful for what we”ve got. A good president.
