LAKEPORT — The recordation of notice of lien against property located on Scotts Valley Road in Lakeport was approved Tuesday by the Lake County Board of Supervisors. The lien, which is associated with temporary levee repairs, totals $2,769.47.

According to Ron Yoder, associate resource planner for the Community Development Code Compliance Department, staff determined during an initial site visit in December 2010 that temporary repairs to a damaged levee on property located at 5360 Scotts Valley Road were necessary in order to restore the integrity of the levee for the winter storm season.

Yoder said that a 48-hour notice for summary abatement was posted and mailed via certified mail to property owner Rudolph Ortega. He said detailed letter regarding all possible grading and storm water violations that occurred on the property was also sent. However, according to Yoder, response from the property owner was never received and abatement was conducted on Dec. 16.

Yoder said temporary levee repairs consisted of sandbagging the damaged portion of the levee. He said Water Resources Division provided the plans for the project as well as staff for inspection while work was in progress. He said additional work is needed.

“Due to conditions within the stream, the opposite bank could not be inspected. Future inspections of the un-inspected levee along with other areas of the parcel should be done after stream conditions allow for safe crossing,” Yoder said. “Additional work will be necessary to permanently repair the abated damaged levee and any other grading, storm water violations discovered during future inspection.”
