CLEARLAKE — The southbound lane of Highway 53 between 18th Avenue and Dam Road was closed Sunday evening for about an hour following a two-vehicle collision. The collision occurred when one driver allegedly ran a red light at the intersection.
According to Clearlake Interim Chief of Police Craig Clausen, Grace LeBlanc, 54, of Clearlake was traveling westbound on Dam Road at approximately 8:15 p.m. LeBlanc allegedly ran a red light at the Highway 53 and Dam Road intersection. Clausen said the 1994 Dodge Caravan she was driving entered the intersection where it collided with a grey Dodge Durango, driven by Lisa Bellah, 31, of Clearlake.
Lake County Fire Protection District responded to the scene and all parties involved, including Bellah”s two child passengers, were transported to St. Helena Hospital Clearlake for treatment of various injuries.
Volunteers in Policing (VIPs) also responded to the scene and assisted with traffic control.
Clausen said no arrests were made in relation to the incident and alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be factors in the collision.
