Think life is unfair?

To Christians the Middle East is perceived to be the holy land.

Many Christians want to go there to see where it all began, the history and the facts. What we don”t know is how persecuted the Christians really are there. Christians in Iraq are fighting to stay alive, with bombers and snipers at the door to their places of worship ready to attack.

Everyone has a story to tell and horrors to get over, now it”s the time for the Iraqi Christians to tell theirs. Our Lady of Salvation Catholic Church in Iraq was attacked on Oct. 31.It was under fire during mass, while people were worshiping their chosen faith.

Father Thayer rushed 80 worshipers into a small room in the back of the church and hid the children in a small cupboard under the sink. During his quest to save his people, he in fact met his untimely death.

There are several other churches in Iraq that are suffering these fates. The people want to leave but they feel it is their duty, for their people, to stay. New security around Baghdad is being put into effect, including armed guards, barbed wire and blast walls around many churches to protect people when all they want to do is pray.

This fortified why we do what we do here at P.E.A.C.E., we must stop the fighting and the killing in the name of religion. It is horrible and sad that something as peaceful as spirituality is being attacked. Remember this when you feel that your life is somehow unfair.
