LAKE COUNTY — Misty Scott, 32, of Kelseyville was on the front page of the Record-Bee in May, 2010 after an arrest resulting in a charge of attempt to manufacture methamphetamine.

Scott was scheduled to graduate a Lake County Community Action Agency (LCCAA) drug and alcohol treatment program on April, 4. She was living in New Beginnings transitional living center (TLC) until Sunday.

“On Friday my counselor came to the house and said that everyone had to leave, because the program was being shut down.” Scott said the women were told they were supposed to be out that day but were given until Sunday because some had nowhere to go.

“We were given the alarm code and left unsupervised Friday night,” Scott said. “I was so happy when New Beginnings opened its doors to me. I had a drug problem.”

LCCAA Board Chairman Tom Jordan said the board had a meeting Friday, when it was decided to close the TLC house, but wasn”t aware at the time that some of the placements were contingent on supervision. He said he had no knowledge that the women were left unsupervised.

She said she and the other women were devastated Friday and decided to “hit two NA (Narcotics Anonymous) meetings.”

Scott is proud to have the title of “responsible resident,” and she lived up to it.

“We stuck together as a family. We really want to stay sober. It was our decision to go. We know sobriety is what we want and we”re fighting for it,” Scott said.

LCCAA is delinquent on payment of federal payroll taxes in excess of $100,000 and is facing serious financial difficulties, including possible eviction from the agency”s offices because of non-payment of rent. The agency has furloughed employees and canceled programs.

Scott said she pays $500 per month rent at the TLC house. The residents vacated the house on Sunday, just about halfway into the month.

“If they should be paid back, we need to pay them,” Jordan said on Wednesday. He added that he feels terrible for the clients and employees.
