LAKE COUNTY — Downed power lines, utility poles and trees caused by the winter storm Wednesday night and Thursday resulted in many road closures and electricity access problems for residents that continued into Friday.
County Road Superintendent Stephen Stangland said county crews worked to clear many streets in Kelseyville, the Rivieras, Lower Lake and Cobb Friday morning but full access was not restored to all streets in the Cobb area, as of Friday evening.
PG&E crews continued to work on fixing electricity issues into Friday evening, Stangland said.
Schools in the south portion of the county, between Kelseyville and Clearlake Oaks, were closed Friday.
The closures, according to the Lake County Office of Education (LCOE), affected the following school districts: Kelseyville Unified (for Kelseyville and the Rivieras), Konocti Unified (for Clearlake Oaks, Clearlake and Lower Lake) and Middletown Unified (for Cobb, Hidden Valley Lake and Middletown).
Schools in Lakeport, Lucerne and Upper Lake were open Friday, the LCOE said. Schools in all school districts will not be in session Monday because of Presidents” Day, the LCOE said.
The National Weather Service (NWS) forecasts for lower elevations in Lake County, as of 10 p.m. Friday, included a small chance of precipitation during the day and night Saturday, sunny conditions for part of Sunday, and increasing chances of precipitation Sunday night into Monday.
For the higher elevations, snow is a possibility until Saturday afternoon, sunnier conditions are expected Sunday and then precipitation (rain or snow) returns Sunday night into Monday, the NWS forecasts.

County agencies request that people drive safely, slowly and alertly because of the icy road conditions.
