FORT BRAGG — The Fort Bragg Timberwolves took charge with a 25-14 first quarter and beat the Kelseyville Knights 78-62 on Friday night in Fort Bragg to clinch a North Central League I North co-championship.
Fort Bragg and Middletown finish tied atop the North standings at 7-1 and will meet in a special one-game playoff tonight at 5 p.m. at Lower Lake High School. The winner gets an automatic playoff berth into next week”s North Coast Section Division IV playoffs. The loser can still advance as an at-large team.
Kelseyville (4-4 North, 16-10 overall) also will apply for an at-large berth despite dropping its final three games.
“I think these kids deserve it,” Kelseyville coach Scott Conrad said of the opportunity to participate in the section playoffs.
Fort Bragg won the opening tip-off and raced out to a 12-0 lead.
“They came out and just shot lights out,” Conrad said.
Kelseyville twice closed to within six points in the second half.
Dustin Thaxton”s 16 points paced the Knights. Max Huff added 13 points and 11 rebounds, Mike Davis had 12 points and Devin Call chipped in 11.
