UPDATED:

For many years I have complained about the Record-Bee displaying mug shots and all sort of bad news on the front page, as if nothing else where happening in the county. I will, no doubt, continue to be annoyed by the unsavory slant put on our beloved neighborhoods by the Bee.

However, on Feb. 15, there was a game-changer. With one article, brilliantly penned, I will forever forgive the Bee for any transgressions in editorial choices. For my money Denise Rockenstein gave the Bee a lifetime pass with her article about Tammy Maninger. The crown jewel of the entire story may have been the mug shot. Tammy was bummed. I”ll bet she came pretty close to landing the big air maneuver. But something went terribly wrong and huge glory slipped away. Instead, News at 11. It can be a harsh world out there, but for those daring souls who are willing to shed convention, take chances against monstrous odds and go big there can be moments of supreme glorious success, or not

Thanks Denise and the Bee, you touched my literary heart, my funny bone and my gratitude. (Hey Tammy, I”ve got an old Subaru you can “air out” anytime).
