LAKE COUNTY — The following school closures and road restrictions have been reported throughout Lake County as a result of early morning snowfall and continuing winter conditions.
The Lake County Office of Education (LCOE) reports the following school district closures: Kelseyville Unified (for Kelseyville and the Rivieras), Konocti Unified (for Clearlake, Clearlake Oaks and Lower Lake) and Lakeport Unified.
All schools in Upper Lake are closed, and the Lucerne school district is closed for the first time in 21 years, according to the LCOE.
The Aspire and Clearlake Community schools are closed as well as the LCOE offices. Cobb Elementary School is closed, but the rest of the Middletown Unified School District is operating on a two-hour delay, as of 9:20 a.m.
Caltrans reports the following highway restrictions, as of 9:20 a.m.: Chains are required for non four-wheel drive vehicles on Highway 29 from Highway 53 in Lower Lake to Highway 20 west of Upper Lake.
Chains or snow tires are required on Highway 175 from Highway 101 in Hopland to the Lake-Mendocino county border as well as from 2.8 miles south of the Highway 29 junction to five miles west of Middletown.
The California Highway Patrol reports chain restrictions for all of Highway 175 between Lakeport and Hopland.
Caltrans reports no closures or restrictions on highways 20 or 53 in Lake County.
