I attended the Board of Supervisor”s meeting Tuesday regarding medical marijuana dispensaries and I am still appalled at many people”s behavior, including Mr. Comstock treating us all like dirtbags and Rob Brown being on the phone. I thought the 45-minute presentation at the beginning of the meeting was mainly irrelevant. Anyone who has trouble with Dr. Hopkins should deal with him through the AMA. I find it disturbing that many believe that the drug problem in this county is due to the marijuana dispensaries. I am also a new fan of the DA, our new Sheriff and Ms. Rushing who seem to have seriously thought things through and aren”t willing to base their opinions on fear.
I am a 58-year-old resident of Lakeport who takes medicinal marijuana for severe chronic pain and depression. I am not a dirtbag. I sat at the back of the room and was not involved with any of the “outbursts.” I find it very difficult to live here because of the lack of shopping opportunities and the tiny minds that run this county. It bothers me to have to drive out of county to get simple things that aren”t available here.
As it is, I drive many miles to the unincorporated parts of the county to get my medicine and wish there was a more convenient dispensary.
I wish the meeting had been more productive. I resent Comstock”s comment about all of us being rude. People were just trying to be heard, which seemed irrelevant to most of the board members. Thank you for your article, even though I thought it was a bit one-sided.
