LAKEPORT — A man was arrested after allegedly attempting to gain entry into a home on Lakeshore Boulevard near Rainbow Road in Lakeport.

On March 8 at approximately 3:30 p.m., an 11-year-old girl was startled by the sound of someone trying to open the back door of her home.

She looked out the window and saw a man outside. The girl was home with a schoolmate, also 11 years old.

The girl called her parents, who were apparently en-route to the home, and the Lake County Sheriff”s were contacted.

It was reported that the man, Juan Carlos Escareno, 35, lived in a nearby trailer.

When the parents arrived, the father saw and confronted a man matching the description provided by his daughter, near a storage shed next to the victim”s home.

When the father confronted him, Escareno allegedly threatened to harm the daughter if she accused him of trying to get into the home.

Escareno was arrested without incident and booked at the Lake County Hill Road Correctional Facility on charges of attempted burglary, threatening crime with attempt to terrorize and INS hold. He remains at the Hill Road facility.
