MIDDLETOWN — Logan Smith went the distance on the mound and Michael Davis hit a grand slam as the Middletown High School junior varsity baseball team defeated Cloverdale 9-2 in a six-inning game on Tuesday afternoon in Middletown.
Smith struck out nine and walked three as the Mustangs (1-2) logged their first win of the season.
Davis (2-for-2) erased a 2-1 Cloverdale lead in the bottom of the third with his bases-loaded home run.
Middletown had 13 hits in all, including two each by Reid Carpenter (2-for-3, RBI) and Graham Brown (2-for-3, double, RBI). Jake Tucker added a double in three at-bats.
