I want you to be aware of the Senate Joint Resolution 5 (SJR 5), which is an anti-wild horse measure backed by a small group of special interest cattlemen that opposes wild horse preserves.
Wild Horses are one of Nevada”s last untapped natural resources. There has been an overwhelming interest in support of these icons of the American West. Wild horse preserves planned for the state of Nevada will draw visitors from around the world to view the splendor of having their mustangs home free on the open range.
The Saving America”s Mustangs Foundation is currently developing Mustang Monument: Wild Horse Eco-Sanctuary, in Nevada, that will generate jobs and revenue to the state; especially the rural communities in Northeastern Nevada. Mustang Monument will be a patriotic living museum that showcases
Nevada”s rich history and culture, the wild west, and of course, America”s beloved wild horses.
So, we have to ask, why in the middle of the worst budget crisis in decades, is the Nevada Legislature considering a resolution to impede an important source of tourism dollars?
American taxpayers can no longer afford the millions of dollars it takes for the removal of our wild horses. Nearly half of all America”s wild horses and burros reside in the state of Nevada. Unfortunately, livestock and hunting industries in Nevada are trying to undermine the efforts of many Americans working tirelessly to reform the mismanagement of our wild horses and burros.
Please vote no on SJR5, because is bad for Nevada and bad for our American mustangs.
