UPDATED:

I received a shock today. I was surfing the Internet on the computer when the lights went out for a second. I thought nothing of it. A half an hour later I walked out on the porch and found a booklet on the door.

“My SmartMeter had been installed.”

There I thought I had an option to refuse it or not.

I was incensed and hunted down the installer, who was still a couple of blocks away. Asked him to remove the meter and he said he couldn”t.

I threatened his company with legal action, which I find is futile.

Until PG&E comes up with a plan giving people the option to refuse the meter, we have to accept it (that”s the impression I received after speaking with PG&E) and it being their property I would be breaking the law if I removed it.

This is one of the consequences of voting the wrong governor into office.

He appoints the members of the CPUC and generally people friendly to business are appointed to the commission. Governor Brown made a couple of changes but did not remove the worst (in my opinion) Michael Peevy.

So I have to wait until PG&E gets around to promulgating an opt out for customer. It could take years.
