CLEARLAKE OAKS — Clearlake Oaks Water District (CLOWD) personnel worked 16 hour days to insure that an isolated area in Clearlake Oaks had clean water.

CLOWD personnel were called out for a service emergency at approximately 4 a.m. on March 20 to an area between Laurel and Lakeview streets, located off of Widgeon Way in Clearlake Oaks.

The California Department of Public Health and the Lake County Environmental Health Department were notified immediately. CLOWD can be credited for expedient work that prevented the water from entering the lake.

CLOWD General Manager Darin McCosker said a water main was possibly compromised probably because of a road slide as a result of inclement weather.

The ruptured water main resulted in the issuing of notices in the affected service area. On Monday customers were promptly advised to boil water prior to use or consumption. When issuing boil water notice and cancellation notice, California Department of Public Health templates and protocol were followed. All boil water advisory notices were lifted on Wednesday following extensive testing.

“Water in the affected area of Clearlake Oaks, as well as the entire district, is safe to drink based on tests that were determined to be negative for bacteria” McCosker said.

CLOWD staff physically delivered information to 268 customers. McCosker said the notices were issued as a precautionary measure.
