FORT BRAGG — Alex Castillo knocked in two of Upper Lake”s runs and scored the other on Thursday as the Cougars fell 12-3 to Fort Bragg in a non-league varsity baseball game at Fort Bragg.
Castillo, who opened the game on the mound for the Cougars (2-5) before moving behind the plate to catch reliever Chris Colon, tripled home a run in the top of the first inning and then doubled home a run during the Cougars” two-run third. He later scored on an error.
“He hits the ball hard,” Upper Lake coach Jim Green said. “He hit the ball to the deepest part of their field ? center field ? both times.”
Fort Bragg led 11-3 after three innings but reliever Colon clamped down on the Fort Bragg offense the rest of the wayt.
“That was his best outing,” Green said. “He was really pounding the strike zone.”
Colon allowed four hits and four runs in four innings. He struck out four and walked two.
