LAKE COUNTY — Three people were injured in a crash on Saturday at approximately 6:20 p.m.

Justin McCarty, 23, of Middletown was driving a 1981 Toyota pick-up truck eastbound on Dry Creek Cutoff toward Highway 29. There were two passengers in the truck with McCarty, Shane Sims, 24, of Middletown, who was sitting in the right front passenger”s seat, and Sina Radley, 21, of Clearlake, who was riding in the bed of the truck.

McCarty lost control of the truck and it veered to the left and went off the roadway. The truck hit a tree and then rolled over onto its left side, throwing passenger Radley out of the bed of the truck. The truck came to rest in a ditch. Sims was able to get out of the truck while McCarty was trapped in the driver”s seat.

Neither McCarty nor Sims was wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash. When McCarty was removed from the vehicle, he was flown to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for major injuries. Passengers Sims and Radley were transported by South County Fire Ambulance to Saint Helena Hospital Clearlake for their injuries. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in this crash.

The crash is still under investigation by Officer E. Coddington of the California Highway Patrol.
