LAKEPORT — Approximately 30 people held signs in protest in the early evening on Monday in support of unions across the U.S. in the wake of the Wisconsin State legislature”s move to strip unions of collective bargaining rights.

The group gathered in Museum Park in Lakeport. A petition requesting President Obama to lead the change for workers was available to those interested in signing.

“The attacks on our unions in Ohio, Wisconsin and elsewhere aren”t just labor struggles or budget battles. They”re an attack on the American middle-class ? an attempt to, in a single blow, undo generations of progress for labor and working-class Americans. We need you to lead the charge against this attack …” the petition stated.
