Two weeks ago, with the lake at 9.5 feet, many were hopeful that we would finally have a nice clear lake for the summer. Yet over the past two weeks Yolo County has been mandated to reduce the level to 7.56 Rumsey. This is incredibly stupid.
Last year everyone was running around in circles trying to figure out how to clean up the lake. Well, starting with a full lake is a very good beginning. Yet we follow some age old decree, doing the same thing, expecting a better result. Well, it isn”t working. Ninety-eight percent of the taxpayers in Lake County want a clean lake, and a full lake will go a long way to having that. Yolo County wants as much water in the lake as possible.
The only people who do not want a full lake live miles from it and certainly have only one objective: to plant rice sooner. We are sending our most precious asset down the creek and into the ocean. Why not change the decree?
