CLEARLAKE OAKS — The service of a search warrant by the Sheriff”s Narcotics Task Force in Clearlake Oaks Thursday morning yielded one arrest, the seizure of methamphetamine, and the seizure of more than $1,000 in currency for asset forfeiture.
On April 8 narcotics detectives secured a search warrant for the person, home and vehicles of Luther Gene Weathers, 57. At approximately 7:30 a.m., detectives served the warrant at Weathers” home on Keys Boulevard in Clearlake Oaks.
When detectives announced their presence at the front door, they received no response and had to force entry to serve the warrant. Once inside the home, detectives encountered two locked bedrooms and received no response at either door. When detectives forced entry into one of the bedrooms, they located and detained Weathers without incident.
During a search of Weathers” bedroom, detectives located a baggie of methamphetamine and two digital scales. A further search of the home revealed more methamphetamine, 28 hydrocodon pills and narcotics paraphernalia concealed in a living room closet. Detectives also located 35 Soma pills concealed in a candy box in the center console of Weathers” pick-up truck.
Detectives seized the narcotic medications and a total of a quarter ounce of methamphetamine packaged for sales. More than $1,000 was also seized from Weathers as the suspected profits of drug trafficking.
Weathers was arrested and transported to the Hill Road Correctional Facility where he was booked for possession of a controlled substance for sales, possession of narcotic drugs for sales, and possession of narcotics paraphernalia.
The Sheriff”s Narcotics Task Force will continue its efforts to eradicate narcotics from the communities of Lake County and seize the suspected profits of drug trafficking for asset forfeiture whenever possible.
