CLEARLAKE — Clearlake man Frank Cox, 49, was arrested early Sunday morning after crashing his motorcycle during an attempt to evade officers.

He was booked into Lake County Hill Road Correctional Facility on charges of felony evasion, possession of concentrated cannabis and driving on a suspended license.

According to Clearlake Police Sgt. M. Snyder, at approximately 12:54 a.m. Sunday, Officer T. Lenz attempted to initiate a traffic enforcement stop on the motorcycle Cox was riding at the intersection of Phillips and 35th avenues for numerous vehicle code violations.

He said Cox evaded pursuing officers through numerous streets in the Chapman Tract and on Lakeshore Drive.

“During the pursuit, Cox discarded an item, which was later recovered and identified as approximately six grams of concentrated cannabis,” Snyder said. “The pursuit continued throughout the City of Clearlake until Cox crashed his motorcycle near a wooded area on Hemlock Avenue.”
