Musical auditions begin Thursday
LAKEPORT — The Lake County Theatre Company is holding auditions for its next play, a musical entitled “Musical of Musicals, The Musical,” 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Lake County Fairgrounds, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Lower Lake Historic Schoolhouse Museum and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Lake County Fairgrounds.
This production revolves around the most basic of plots: Poor June can”t pay her rent to her evil landlord, Jitter. Can Billy, her handsome leading man, save her? Or perhaps the matronly Abby, who is always full of sage advice, can help. The plot is presented in five mini-musicals, each parodying the style of a famous composer. The performance includes spoofs of “Oklahoma,” “The Sound of Music,” “Hello Dolly,” “Sweeny Todd,” “Cats,” “The Phantom of the Opera,” “Chicago,” “Cabaret” and more.
This small musical has roles for four strong singers, two men and two women. Those auditioning should prepare a short song to sing. A pianist will be available at the April 23 audition for those who have sheet music. Otherwise, those auditioning are asked to bring a CD to sing along with. Performances of “Musical of Musicals, The Musical!” will take place during the last three weekends of July. For more information, call 972-5787.
Free proctoring available at Lakeport Library
LAKEPORT — Free proctering is available to students who need a proctor for online college exams at the Lakeport Library, 1425 High St. Proctors are generally available on Thursday afternoons. For more information, contact the Lakeport Library at 263-8817. Donations for this service are graciously accepted by Friends of the Lake County Library.
KPFZ Funathon taking place this week
LAKE COUNTY — KPFZ 88.1 FM”s annual Funathon is taking place this week through Friday. The Funathon celebrates KPFZ”s third year on the air as a full-power station and is designed to bring in new members and renewals to the non-commercial, community radio station.
KPFZ is a locally-owned and operated volunteer station. “It offers a wide variety of programs from people who live, work and raise families in Lake County,” Operations Manager Andy Weiss said.
KPFZ offers both music and talk shows. In Lake County”s 2010 election year, KPFZ interviewed all the candidates many times over-the-air during the lengthy campaign, as well as broadcasting live debates and providing both primary and general all-night local election coverage.
Weiss added, “KPFZ operates on a fraction of the cost of most community stations ? due to its dedicated volunteers and very supportive listening audience.”
?We Love Tules” accepting films until May 15

New Vintage Productions presents ?Romantic Fools”
CLEARLAKE OAKS ? New Vintage Productions will present “Romantic Fools,” a two-person play by Rich Orloff, 7 p.m. April 29, 30 and May 6 and 7 at the East Lake Grange, located at 13010 Highway 20 in Clearlake Oaks. Tickets are $15.
According to Claudia Listman, managing director of New Vintage Productions, “Romantic Fools” is a hilarious romantic comedy about building a relationship.
There will also be a special dinner show at 4:30 p.m. May 1 at Rob Roy Golf Club, located at 16451 Golf Road, Cobb. Cost of admission is $40 and includes a a gourmet dinner with three menu choices available.

Salituri to judge juried art show
LAKEPORT — Gail Salituri will judge the June juried show, “The Lake County Landscape,” at the Main Street Gallery in Lakeport.
Salituri served as a judge for the California County Fair System during a period of 10 years. Her art career started with studies at San Jose City College, where she spent many seminars with internationally-known artists including Leonard Wren, Bill Schnider and Rom Villa. Since that time she has received many accolades for her work, which is done exclusively in oils. Working from her Lake County home, she depicts California” missions, courtyards, vineyards and wineries. Her work has appeared in “Steppin Out,” “Southwest Art” and “Art of the West” magazines. Her work is currently featured in the Lee Youngman Gallery in Calistoga and her own Inspirations Gallery in Lakeport.
Lake County artists wishing to submit their work for jury can pick up entry information from the Main Street Gallery. Work will be received from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 20 at the gallery, or by special appointment by calling the show coordinator Ray Farrow, 278-0323.
Work juried into the show will hang in the Linda Carpenter Gallery for the month of June. There will be two awards, the “Judges Award” and the “People”s Choice Award,” both of which will be presented during the First Friday Fling on June 3.
