MIDDLETOWN — Reid Carpenter went 3-for-4 with a RBI and two stolen bases and starting pitcher Logan Smith allowed just one hit in his two innings on the mound as the Middletown Mustangs beat Santa Rosa 12-7 in a non-league junior varsity baseball game Monday at Middletown.

Jack Hamilton went 3-for-4 with a triple and a RBI for the Mustangs, who improved to 7-3.

Smith, the first of three Middletown pitchers, worked the first two innings, striking out three and walking none.

The Mustangs received solid defense up from the middle from sophomore shortstop Raphael Roy-Labelle, according to coach Brad Holt.

“He had a big game on defense,” Holt said.

Roy-Labelle also doubled for one of Middletown”s 12 hits.
