LAKEPORT — A sunny Easter Sunday in Lakeport brought a slew of anxious children and parents anticipating the 86th annual Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by the Lakeport Rotary Club.
Rotary members cooked and dyed eggs at Clearlake Redi-Mix on Friday and then hid more than 2,880 eggs at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Lakeport.
The children were separated into three different age groups, 0 to 3; 4 to 8; and 9 to 12 years old. It took an estimated 20 minutes for all the eggs to be gathered.
Approximately 400 people attended the hunt.
Pay egg winners included: Morgan Sanchez, Vanessa Reyes, Maggie O”Brien, Maria Pinoko, Jocelyn Emery, Donavin Valadez, Alana Allard, Miakayla Lopez and Arriana Kauramey.
The club also awarded 50 cents for each of the 300 yellow eggs found.
Prior to the Easter egg hunt on Saturday, Lakeport”s Main Street was alive with furry friends at the Push, Pull Pet Parade.
Approximately 60 people joined in and walked with more than 20 animals.
The parade was sponsored by the Lakeport Main Street Association.
The parade began at 10 a.m. at Library Park in downtown Lakeport. There was no cost to enter.
Infants to 12-year-olds were invited to bring animals and dress up for the event.
